Nip it in the bud
All trees from the nursery should be pruned in the first few years to improve structure.
The small cuts that were made on this project are now huge problems prevented. It may be hard to imagine but a branch the size of your pinky will grow to the size of your wrist, the the width of your arm, your leg etc. Training trees early on will ensure less severe pruning in the future.
Structural pruning differs from aesthetic pruning as we’re influencing the way trees grow and function. I call it tough love. It may appear severe at first but the trees will thank you when they have developed properly.
